In both the above cases, the accompanying father / mother / guardian has to submit their own AADHAAR or EID number, if the NRI child is introduced to AADHAAR by them. Earlier, after arriving in India, NRIs had to wait for 182 days and so their status change from Non-Resident Indian (NRI) to resident and only then they could apply for AADHAAR enrolment. However in May 2020, the Finance Minister of India proposed that NRIs with valid Indian Passport may apply for AADHAAR on arrival and need not wait for 182 days for their status to change to resident.

At the AADHAAR enrolment centre, fill separate AADHAAR enrolment forms with requested details for each NRI child applicant. In the AADHAAR enrolment form, the NRI child applicant can only write his / her local Indian mobile phone number, international / non-Indian mobile numbers are not supported.
